Engine Mechanical problem
1989 Toyota Camry 6 cyl Automatic 110000 miles

When I start my car sometimes it makes a hi-pitched screech. This might happen once or twice before it actually starts.

I had an 88 Camry which developed this same issue. Replaced the start about 3 different times and it never fixed it. Is there another issue which could be causing this?

I think I read somewhere It might be the flywheel? If this is the case, how much does it cost to replace the flywheel / whatever part may be bad.

Hi there,

It may be that the drive plate is damaged & the starter drive is slipping, the transmission has to be removed to do this, i will post an estimate when i can get access to the data base later today (my time)
