My oil sensor went out and all the oil ran out of it. There is a knock in the engine now. What is it?

Hi there, engine knock after running out of oil is normally a failing bearing, if you continue to drive it you will destroy the engine, have it investigated first, but I feel that you will be up for a re build or a change over engine.
