1986 toyota camry 2.0L with 126,000 miles

automatic transmission will go into reverse and low perfectly, but when i start off in drive it goes maybe 10m.p.h. , on the other hand i can shift from low to 2nd to drive and it works. what do you think is my problem?

I think you may have a bad tranny. I suggest getting it serviced and add some Slick 50 additive and see what happens. If you have never serviced it the fluid is probably very dark.

Smell the oil on the diopstick if it smells burned then it is a 50/50 chance it will not help.

Common tranny failures is it works in reverse and not in drive.
