For the last month my 2006 Avalon has had a very bad smell inside the cabin. It smells like something has died in the car. In the process of looking for the source of the smell I noticed that the carpet under the driver and passenger seats is constantly wet. Nothing has been spilled. Water or something else must be leaking. It apears to be just water. I'm assuming the smell and the wet carpet are somehow related. Someone told me that it could be the air conditioner condensor. Any thoughts?

Hi Jim88,

When carpets gets wet and is left damp for a period of time, the smell can be terrible.

If there is no leakage, then it should be AC condensation or the heater core is leaking.

Check if the rdiator coolant level is correct.

If it is AC water, check for a dislodged or clogged drain pipe out of the evaporator lower housing.
