2002 Avalon gets alarms caused by rust between gas cap and seat on filler neck. Is there a seat replacement I can install rather than spend $109 for new fuel filler neck ? There is deep pitting so I don't think wire brushing and filling with brazing rod will help. I might try machining a plastic insert, and installing that. Any other ideas ???

Hi there,

i feel that your insert will work as long as it is impervious to petroleum products, you don't want it melting into the tank and causing more problems.
