1997 Toyota Avalon my key ignition won't work

I have a standard key and it sometimes takes 15-20 insertions of my key before it will turn so that I can start the car. I had the key re-made at a dealership from the VIN number but it still doesn't work any better.

Do i need to replace it or can it be repaired?

its the ignition cylinder
you should have it check and rebuilt or replace
