TOYOTA 4RUNNER

I am the original owner of a very clean - 1984 Toyota 4Runner; 22R 4 cyl, standard shift, apx 270,000mi. It's a Colorado truck but I now live in California (emissions). This truck has served me well and is about to become a vintage (25) years.

Situation: The engine just started making an internal banging sound, lost oil and I shut her down. It looks like severe internal damage.

I would like to put a few grand into her and work with a private mechanic to bring her back both engine and suspension (plus a bunch of other little things that need replacing with age.) They have been tough to locate in my area (LA).

Question: Can you help me find someone to assist me with this project or is it best that I just put her to rest, save the money and move on to a newer vehicle?
The body is in great shape and the truck (with removable top) is a classic...I just don't know if it's worth it seeing as I can't do all of the work myself.

I haven't used this service before and will be more willing to donate once I see how you all operate.

Thanks so much for your assistance.

G'day there,

This is a question that is often asked by my customers, so what to do, get a quote on a re build of the engine and all the other things that you need to do. Is the car still what you want to be driving for the next ten years or so? many customers are happy to pay out $3-5 K on a major re build ( if the body is still in good condition) rather then $15-20+ on a new or late model car they dont realy want. you just have to have a good hard think about what you want.

Good luck

Appreciate your feedback. Where is your shop? Know anyone in the LA area?
