Engine Cooling problem
2002 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My checkengine light, along with others, came on this morning. Took it to the dealership for a diagnosis and they state that it will be $380 to replace the air sensor to the engine. I'm thinking that even as a chick, I can probably change that. Any advice on how to go about this?

Hi arconley,

No sweat getting it changed, but get a second opinion about the problem. It could be just a loose connector.

If really need to replace, get the part and by looking at it, you would most probably understand how to replace it.

Come back if you need any help.

Thanks, I actually took it out the other day and tried to clean it with the solution I bought. Didn't take care of the check engine light. At least now, I know how to take it out and put it back. I'll let you know if I have any issues changing it!

Hi arconley,

You are welcomed.

BTW did you check if there are any contaminations at the connectors or if any terminal looks out of position? I hate to see $ wasted due to minor faults such as loose or improper connections.
