I have purchased quick strut replacements from Monroe. Part no. 171351L and R. I cannot get the wishbone to move far enough down for the bottom bolt to install. The overall length from upper bearing plate to centerline of pinch bolt is approx 19.5 in. I hoped this would be easy and now hope there is a no brainer which will prove my limited knowledge.

Hi BNE1025,

Are both the new and old struts of the same length when fuly extended?

Did you try lifting up the lower arm with a floor jack?

There is about an inch difference between old and new. I have them installed now, had to seperate the upper control arm from steering knuckle to get the lower bolt installed. I then jacked up the lower to reattach the upper ball joint. What I have now is cut upper ball joint dust boots and a whole new appreciation for the professional wrench guys.
