2001 Toyota 4Runner

I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner. the gear shift is lock and I dont know what is causeing it. It will not change from park. What is causeing that?

First check to see if the brake lights are working.The brake light switch is what controls the shift lock solenoid.If the lights are workings, you will need to access the shifter so you can test for power at the lock solenoid.
