Engine problem
2000 Toyota 4Runner Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 90,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Immediatly after starting the engine races at high RPM like the accelerator pedal was pushed down. In the old days I would have said choke or idle speed, but with there foreign cars I have no idea. Do I need to tap the accelerator to slow it down?
It is really loud; I heard it on the street from inside the house last night.
Thanks

Check for a binding throttle plate/accelerator linkage/cable-could also be the throttle position sensor
