I am hearing a noise from my front right brake/axel area while I'm driving which goes like "ruup....ruup...ruup" and the frequency will increase or decrease dependent on the speed I am driving. I had a mechanic change new brake pads and also check the ball bearings, but nothing changed. The noise still continues. Also, I have also noticed the right front brake will stick after pressing the brake for the first time after turning on the car. It releases after I put into reverse quickly and put back in first gear. My question is - is it the brakes or the ball bearings? I don't another mechanic to tear the whole thing a part and then have it cost me a lot more than it should have. Thanks!

Hi:
This is a hard one without actually hearing it. However, there is a problem with the caliper. If you have to back up to get it to release, I would have to say the pads are wrong, the caliper is always sticking, or something there is loose. I would recommend having the brakes and caliper checked again. If the caliper is sticking at all, the pads could make that noise against a rotor that is slightly warped.

Let me know what you find. Also, a wheel bearing will make more of a huming noise or howling noise that will change when you make turns based on the weight of the vehicle that is being placed on it. I really believe it is the brake sticking. Make sure they replaced the slide pins and hardware when they replaced the pads.
