I have a 99 4runner V6 (5VZ-FE engine) that has been acting weird lately in the cold weather on the initial start up of the day. I also had my transmission fluid changed one week ago to see if this would help things.

Basically, when I start the truck for the first time of the day in below freezing weather, when I shift into drive, the vehicle doesn't want to go unless I press the gas very hard. Even then it still won't respond normally and just crawls initially. If I drive it a half block to the first stop sign like this, it usually just starts acting normal again.

Just today (very cold about 0 degrees F) I started the truck and when I shifted into drive, the truck did this but now the check engine light came on. I shifted the truck into drive 1 and it goes just fine along with going in reverse or drive 2. I proceeded to drive around the block a few times manually shifting the truck at first but then drove for a short time in regular drive and the truck ran fine.

Anybody have any thoughts or ideas of what is going on?
