I believe the clutch is going out on my 4 runner, because the engine is surging while driving and the fuel system seems fine. But my question is relating to it. When the clutch is going out, can it cause the rear differential to "stick"? Sometimes white starting out, it seems to lock up. I have you give it some extra power and them it releases. It is usually a pretty loud pop when it releases. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi there,

A faulty clutch will have no direct bearing on the rear diff, you may have a separate issue there, I would make sure that the diff oil is full and the correct grade as well.
