I have been trying to figure this out:

Initially vehicle I purchased did not have any heat - it would give out minimal heat after a few miles of driving.

Things I have done:

1. Replaced thermostat
2. Flushed radiator
3. Flushed heater core
4. Purged air in system

1. I have heat now - though not really hot, but it's hot enough. This was achieved after doing a flush of my heater core (hooked up water hose and flushed)

2. The radiator is warm on top but cool on bottom.

3. Bottom hose on radiator is cool to the touch after long drives. Top is warm.

4. Vehicle has not overheated.

5. Vehicle temp gauge appears to show normal temp and heats up in a reasonable amount of time.

Hi there,

you have a circulation issue, if you just flushed the radiator with a hose, this is not good enough, you will have to get the radiator removed and professionally cleaned and flow tested, I think that you will find that it is still partly blocked.
