1996 Toyota 4Runner parking brake compartment

OK for a totally bizarre situation: a nail clipper flew up and into the slot where the parking brake is located (into its compartment) during a quick stop. I can't see it in the compartment with a flashlight. What, if any damage is it capable of doing? Do I need to take the car in to open up the compartment and, if so, is this something I could do on my own with the aid of a diagnostic manual? Thanks!!

Darn those nail clippers! Doubtful any damage is going to occur. These compartments are treasure chests for mechanics performing safety inspections and repairs on trade-in cars because there are always a few coins in there.

Look for mounting screws that might be hidden under trim caps. There will be some way to lift the trim panel. As an alternative, many mechanics use a small magnet to poke around to find lost treasures.
