Engine Cooling problem
1996 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 250k miles

I recently took my car to a mechanic. He replaced the timing belt, the water pump, and the thermostat. A week later it started over-heating and leaking fluid in the passenger seat. They say that the problems are so bad that even if they fix the heater core, the next thing will go wrong. So they recommended a liquid that goes into the radiator and fills all the holes. My car has been running fine since I took there advise, but I am wondering... how long does this "liquid" fix the problem?

It doesnt "fix" the problem , it is basically a band-aid on a bullet hole.If the head gaskets are blown, which is what Im assuming from your post, nothing short of new ones will fix it. Im surprised the "liquid" helped at all.
