1996 Toyota 4Runner Engine revs high but doesn't go anywher

Truck almost ran out of oil. Put some new oil in and it starts fine and I can put it into gear fine but it revs really high when I try to release the clutch and push the gas to start moving but it only goes a couple of inches. What is the problem?
