Hello, this is a two part question:
1) There is a whirring sound (for about 3 seconds) behind the firewall on the passenger side whenever the ignition is turned on or off. What is that?

2) 75% of the time now, a very loud screeching sound comes from that same location whenever the ignition is turned on or off. What is happening?

Thanks!

hi that screeching is one of a couple of possibilities, and let me add, you will need to have it fixed as soon as you possibly can, o.k, either your serpentine belt is too loose or worn, or one of the four pulleys that you have on that side of the engine has some bad bearings in it, I am banking its just a belt. I would just have your local shop check the condition of the belt and replace if necessary, this should cost you no more than eighty bucks tops, to replace a belt. thank you
