Engine Cooling problem
1995 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My engine has developed an antifreeze leak on the block, on the driver side corner, closest to the dash board. It appears to be leaking right where the the block and the "cooling jacket" come together. My mechanic said he never saw anything like that before, this truck has over 170k on it. How long can it be driven before the leak gets into the cylinders. Also should this truck be limited to short trips. I am filling up the overflow container to help compensate for the steady drip of coolant while driving.

Basically can I continue driving or should I stop and have the gaskets replaced?

Thank You

Hi there,

This leak could develop very rapidly into a full blow head gasket problem, i would get it fix sooner rather than later.
