1994 Toyota 4Runner the engine revs but does not go

i can put my car in gear but it seems like the cluch doesnt work it seems to stay in N when i switch into 1st or any other gear. so i put it in first let the clutch out slowly put the engine just revs and when i let the clutch all the way out in 1st it doesnt stall the car
