I just bought this truck and I have a problem. The truck has a 3.0 V6. When I pulled the oil filler cap off while it was running the truck died. It did not die instantly but after a couple of second it died. Please help me figure this out I am confused. Never heard of this before.

Thank you I will try that but I also found out that my CAT is glowing red after I drive it for a while and it smells like I have a gas leak. Maybe because it is getting to much gas and can't burn it all? I am going to do a fuel pressure test on it and a vacuum test on it tommorrow. I will enter values after I get them.

Cat glowing red it’s not a good thing at all
You may have a misfire on one of the cylinders
Sending unburned gas to the cat also check the fuel regulator

Well I took compression test on it and the test is as follows. #1) 25 #2) 136 #3) 140 #4) 136 #5) 80 #6) 25 what I was told is that these engines where known for burning valves is this true and is this a good possibility. Also if it is just burnt valves do I have to totally rebuild the engine or can I just have the heads rebuilt?
