There is a klunking/thudding sound from rear passenger side. My friend said it is wheel bearing. Any advice on cost and a how-to on replacing a rear wheel bearing?

before i answer that i would like to figure out what is wrong with the bearing, then we can go into costs.

when does the knocking and thudding occur?

jack up the vehicle and feel for lateral and horizontal movement, check for looseness in the tie rods and ball joints, if those are solid but the wheel moves, suspect a bearing issue. also spin it by hand and see what happens.
