Transmission problem
1983 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have approx 185,000 mile 4runner, the transmission gave no warning to any type of issues(hard shifting, slipping, etc). The tranny didn't want to engage in gear after I drove it. I checked the fluid level and the color, no issues. After sitting for awhile the tranny worked again. The problem came back after driving it successfully for a few hundred miles. Any clue??

Hi BygDD,

Thank you for the donation.

Did you move through each gear manually and all of them did not work?

No Movement In Any Gear Position

Possible causes are :
1. Manual shift linkage or cable out of adjustment.
2. Faulty valve body, primary regulator, parking
lock pawl or torque converter.
3. Damaged or broken converter drive plate or restricted oil filter.
