I need to tow this car one hundred miles. Can I use a tow strap to tow it and where could the strap be attached? I have heard that if front wheels are on the ground the driveshaft would need to be disconnected. If so could the car be started but left in neutral. Can a tow dolly be used and if so would the car have to be backed onto the dolly so rear wheels are off the ground.

Rent a tow dolly. Drive it onto the tow dolly, then disconnect the driveshaft. Mark the U joint and tape the caps in place so you can tie the shaft out of the way. Then tow it with a vehicle capable of handling the weight.

Actually towing it with a strap or chain is illegal in most places. You can pull a vehicle out of a ditch or snowbank but that is about it with those items.
