Car Shaking Badly

I have a mercury grand marquis and my car shakes everytime I hit 45mph or higher. An I have alot of pressure in my gas tank. While I am driving it also smells like gas fuel and burning plastic. What could this be?

Describe the shaking? And when you say pressure, do you actually mean suction/vacuum? You may have a fuel leak, and maybe something got caught up in your catalytic converter and burns when you drive it?

By the shakin it feels like there is a loose tire but thats not what it is. And the pressure sounds like a leaking tire.

Can you feel shake in steering wheel? And I assume the pressure you are referring to is when you open gas cap?
