The "torque on demand" blinks check at the bottom most of the time? What does this mean? When my vehicle is in park the rpm's shoot up to 2,000 to 2,200 rpm's. Why does it do this?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

The torque on demand indicates that the vehicle is in automatic 4wd. To turn the light off, return it to 2H.

Now for the idle issue, is the problem intermittent? Is there anything that seems to cause it to rev? Here is a link to look through that discusses high idle issues. Take a look through it to see if it helps.

Anytime there is an idle issue, the first suspect is the idle air control valve (IAC). I would suggest removing it and inspecting if for carbon build up causing it to stick open. The component is located on the throttle body. I have attached two pictures for you so you can see where it is located. The second picture shows the IAC.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Joe.
PS. If the check engine light is staying on, have the computer scanned to determine what trouble codes are stored. That can be very helpful.
