I am not in the USA. I want to buy and change the torque converter in the transmission. I have not many offers to buy a torque converter. There is one suggestion that interests me. There is a torque converter GM part number 8678959 for sale. But I am not sure if this torque converter will fit my car. Can you tell me if this torque converter will fit my car? My car is 1993 Oldsmobile Achieva S, VIN 1G3NL5438PM025097, engine 2.3L L4 sohc, transmission 3T40 (TH125C). Thank you.

Good morning,

I attached the part for you to view. Rock Auto has it in stock and can forward it to you overseas.

I would get the seal as well if you are getting the converter.

I attached a YouTube video from our library for you to help guide you through the process.

It's my fault for not explaining well.
I am away from the USA. Where I'm located, the store sells torque converter 8678959. The question is, will it fit my car's transmission?

No, that is not the part number for the 125 transmission. The one I sent you is the one you need.

Rock Auto can ship it to you.

You proposed two models: FZBB and FZPB. Which one suits me? And how are they different?

Stall speeds. One is 1800, BB, the other is 2000 RPMs.

Either will work.

That is original equipment. Yes, that would be better.

I didn't notice right away. It turns out these characteristics are on the Rockauto website. However, there are other values: FZBB - Stall Speed 2375 rpm; FZPB - Stall Speed also 2375 rpm. I read somewhere that for my transmission, the Stall Speed should be 2375 RPMs. Then which one is better? FZBB or FZPB?

I did some checking, and I honestly don't know the difference between the 2 for that. I will keep on checking.

I have spoken to several manufacturers, and no one can give me an explanation.

Also, the list of cars varies with the number. Yours is included in both.

I think we should start with notations - abbreviations. We need to find out what these letters F, Z, B, B, P, R mean.

I only know that the second "Z" means "Stall Speed 2375 RPM."

It remains to determine the meanings of the third and fourth characters (B, B, P, R):
B (third),
B (fourth),
P (third),
R (third).
