Unfortunately, there are switches for each stage of the process. The only way I know of getting this figured on this vehicle is to hook up a scan tool and then going through the opening and closing process one step at a time. Basically they can command each step and if it doesn't complete or doesn't start they can diagnose that switch or movement of the top.
Without doing it this way, we are just guessing at which portion is the issue. Also it could be the top control module so again, we need to see if the scan tool can communicate with this module in order to go through the process.
With all that said, look at the first attachment. This is a symptom based diagnosis chart. Do any of these match what you are seeing?
