I have the vehicle listed above 3i.
I have gone through the front end as I did a motor/transmission swap from a 2006 Mazda 3i 2.0 automatic also. And I'm installing the married combo motor and transmission from the 2006 into the 2007, the CV axles and carrier attached with intermediate axle are different. I was going to go with buying the axles required for the 2007, will that work? The transmission look identical. Here is the 2006 axle lengths with intermediate transmission:
Drivers - 26" passenger 40 1/2"
2007 axles that I pulled off are drivers-26-3/4" passenger 39" I ordered CV shafts for it without the intermediate shaft, when I received them the lengths were different and they were a guaranteed exact fit, I'll give the measurements of the old ones and then the new axle measurements, I measured end to end of the axles minus the intermediate shaft and carrier.
Old CV axles -drivers side 26 1/4"
Passenger -22 9/16"

New CV axles - 25 9/16" / 23"
My measurements are within 1/16th of an inch
If this tolerance is not a problem please let me know. I have called Mazda to no prevail.
Thank you for you time and I greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

The first two pics below show the specs for axle length. Pic 1 is the 2007 and pic 2 is the 2006. They are exactly the same, and they seem different from what you have. The third pic shows the manufacturer's part numbers. See if you can match any of them with what you received.

Let me know.

Hi,

Honestly, nothing is ever easy. What I would do is call them, provide them with the OEM part number, and see if they can cross reference it to their part numbers. Note that the numbers I listed indicate left/right auto transmission/manual transmission.

Let me know what they say.

Joe
