timing reassemble after head removal?

I am having trouble identifying top dead center to align the phase adjusters correctly to install the timing chain. I have a dowel in cylinder #1 but i need to know what direction should the crank key way be positioned to insure that i am installing the timing chain correctly.

Sure, I can help you: This engine is not an easy just put the chains on. There is a procedure, here is how to start.

Using the crankshaft holding tool, rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the keyway is at the 12 o'clock position.
