Replaced head gasket shaved head and pressure checked. Now put head back on and set timing belt it's backfiring through the throttle body. The timing mark on the cam is below the deep slash on the cam plate and the oil pump is set on the triangle crank on the dot. So what is going on wrong? And it is getting fire and gas. Also checked the fire order.

If it is backfiring through the intake, it sounds like there is still a timing issue or you have a couple of intake valves stuck open.

Here is where I would recommend starting: We need to check engine compression to see if there is an issue. If there is and all cylinders are affected, then it's likely a timing issue. If only one or two are affected, then we likely have a valve issue.

Here is a link that explains how to check the compression. Do this and let me know the results.

All cylinders have 110 pounds of pressure. Now what? Can you send me the timing marks diagram? Also, how do you get TDC on this dual plug engine?

Align the crankshaft so the number one piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC) with the crankshaft key pointing straight up and the circle on the crankshaft sprocket aligned with the notch in the engine front cover.

As far as the timing marks are concerned, I attached them below.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Do you 110 compression is to low?I though it should around 150 to 200? I am going to try to put some oil in the cylinder to see if it come up?

Hi,

That is lower than I would like to see it. Here is the issue. Ford does not provide a cranking pressure specification, only an acceptable range which I attached below. Are they all 110PSI? Also, did the oil make a difference?

Let me know.

Joe
