Timing Chain Replacement Marks?

This depends on if the timing chain broke or if you are replacing the timing chain as part of preventative maintenance. If it is the latter yes you should do a compression test but if the timing chain has broken, then the chain will need to be replaced before the compression test and be done. You could also do a leak down test on each cylinder once it is back together, I would not turn the camshafts out of time with the pistons because you can cause internal damage. Here are the instructions on how to do the timing chain job and it shows the timing chain marks as well; you should always do the timing chain and oil pump chain at the same time and yes, the chain stretch should be checked.
