Hello there gentlemen, may I please get some guidance on installing a timing belt tensioner on this car listed above?
i have done a timing tensioner replacement before but this particular vehicle has a somewhat different type of tensioner. The way I see it you just install and remove clip unlike the others where I had to turn the engine to get it to release. I see no locking mechanism on this actual tensioner. Anyhow just need some extra information before I get started. Thank you in advance.

Good morning,

There is a pin that goes into a slot for the tensioner. You install the pin and bolt it to the block.

When you have everything lined up, you remove the pin and it will tension up the chain. Verify the marks are still correct after you pull the pin.

I see the pin but there's no slot to place the pin if I'm seeing this correctly. So basically what I'm seeing is that there's nothing on the tensioner for the pin to hold on to. I apologize If I'm confusing you. So there's a hook that would hook on to a little piece that usually sticks off the actual tensioner. So the hook is there but that piece to hook on to is not on the tensioner. That's why I'm wondering whether this black piece that's on here is the release mechanism. I've attached a photo of the actual part itself the last photo I circled the piece I'm talking about that's not attached to the part I have. Hope this helps.

You may have the incorrect part as it needs to have the hole.

Is that tensioner a factory part or aftermarket?
