How to remove and replace the timing chain?

What is the procedure for removing the old timing chains, and then the procedure to put the new ones back on.

This is a big job, but very common on these engines. You will need to replace the camshaft actuators, guides and tensioners as well. This video will give you an idea of what needs to be done, and I have included instructions for your truck in the images below.

Start draining the coolant and disconnecting the battery, then remove the timing cover. Here is what you do after that. I would also make sure the camshaft actuator oil control valves are clean and working as well. Here are their locations. Check out the images (below).
