Timing belt snapped

I have an eight valve Perguot engine. I was driving and the timing belt snapped. The rac said I should be okay because it has a stopper which stops any damage. Do you think if I just changed belt and kit and everything will be okay?

We do not have that model in USA so no information on it. If it is an interference engine then you may have bent some valves. If it has a stopper like you say then you may be okay just replacing belt kit.
