Hello,

On both left (front) and right (rear) cams you will see a mark on the gear wheel in the shape of "I", this will line up with an arrow on the backing plate directly above it pointing down. The crank sprocket at the bottom will also have an arrow pointing upwards to match with an arrow stamped on the block pointing downwards.

On the new timing belt there will be installation marks for each gear. Be sure the arrow on the belt is facing away from the car, not towards the engine. Match each line up with the line on the cams, and the crank sprocket will have a dot in the shape of "o" where the dotted line on the new belt will need to be installed.

Hope this helps,
William

Yep, there is a process to installing the timing belt correctly, here are the instructions on how to do so and how to do the job completely as well. I would read through them all because it sounds like this engine might have interference issues. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

This is my belt. I need to know how many teeth on are between each mark. Don't have old belt to go off. My arrows shows the direction the belt should go and that's the only mark on belt

Hi,

The arrow should point away from the engine during installation. There will be a dotted line that must be installed on the crankshaft sprocket, lining up with a "o" mark. There will be two solid lines on the belt, possibly labeled "RH CAM" and "LH CAM". Regardless, these two solid lines must line up with the "I" marks on the two camshaft pulleys, and, still keeping these "I" marks matched with the mark on the timing cover.

Thanks,
William

Hello,

The belt is supposed to have installation lines. If it does not I would get another, or you can draw lines on it matching the old belt. But these belts are supposed to have installation marks.

Thanks,
William
