I changed my transmission and now the truck won't crank, and it acts like it's out of time. Could it possibly get out of time by turning the motor the wrong way when I hooked up the converter?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by turning the motor in the wrong way. If you mean you turned the crank in the wrong direction, no that wouldn't cause this.

Is it possible for you to record it cranking and upload it for me to hear? I may be able to recognize what is happening.

Let me know.

My phone won't let me send a video, but it sounds like it's not firing.

Hi,

No problem. Let's try something. See if the engine will fire or start if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, I need you to check if there is spark to the plugs. Here is a link that explains how to check:

Try that and let me know the results. Keep in mind, replacing the transmission hasn't changed the engine timing, so I suspect one or the other of the aforementioned items is where the problem is coming from.

Take care,

Joe
