After hitting the gas or brakes and causing the truck to rock a little a clicking noise can be heard from the rear.

Hi,

Is it a one-time click or does it continue once it starts? If it is a one-time click, start by checking the shock mount bushings and the shackle. See pic 1 below If they are in good condition and tight, the next thing I would suggest is to check the universal joint to make sure it isn't wearing out.

Here is a link that explains how to do it:

Let me know what you find. Also, if it is loud enough to record, do it and upload it for me to hear. Hopefully, I will be able to recognize it.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

That would be very possible. Set the parking brake with the vehicle on a flat surface and block the tires. With it in neutral, see if there is any play at the universal joint. The link I attached above explains how to test one by removing the drive shaft.

Let me know if you are comfortable doing it.

Take care,

Joe
