There is a ticking noise. sounds like it's top end. It gets louder when driving into the wind. it has been doing this for a week or so. I'm a student attending Upper Valley Career Center as an Auto tech. I haven't had the chance to look at it. I don't own this vehicle. I would like a professional opinion on this matter before I start making a guess for what it could be. The last service was over five years ago. It has always had regular oil changes. It hasn't been floored in the time we have had it.

Hello,

Do you have any DTC's? Without knowing if any DTC's are present, or if there are some, what they say, I would probably say that this could be a lifter problem. I would, first, check to make sure my oil level was okay. I would then inspect the lifters for malfunctions. I have included instructions for testing your vehicle's lifters in the diagrams below. Please go through them and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks
Alex
