My new to me vehicle listed above makes a rapid ticking noise from the engine at start. After the engine kicks down in approximately 3 or 4 minutes, it slows itself down without hitting the gas and Tick Slows itself and the tick is barely noticeable. Great leather interior, approximately 170,000 miles. 2 owners previous to me.

The first thing I would do is check the engine oil and then change it to see if it is dirty.

This guide can help walk you through the job and I have included instructions for your car in the images below:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-change-engine-oil-and-filter

Fluid Types

Engine Oil

API Classification .................... Look for Starburst Symbol

Grade .................... 5W-30 (preferred), 10W-30 if above 0° F
Capacities

Engine Oil

With Filter Change .................... 4.2L (4.5 Qt)

Note: All capacity specifications are approximate. When replacing or adding fluids, fill to the recommended level and recheck fluid level. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can hear the noise? That way I can tell for sure what's going on. You can upload it here with your response. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
