I am trying to figure out how to remove the throttle body and the proper way of doing it and what is involved.

Have been searching for a video on how to do this on YouTube, but all I see is different models of Kia.

And when I do find a video, it is for a four cylinder, and or the EX model.

Any good steps and or videos?

Also trying to find out where my EGR valve is located so I can clean that as well.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

The throttle body is located at the front of the upper intake manifold. See picture 1. Some have two bolts others three bolts holding them in place. If you follow the air box induction tube to the engine, it stops at the throttle body.

Now, the reason you cannot find this online is because it is not recommended. Take a look through this.

2. Fuel Injection (Induction) Cleaning / Flushing:

This is not a Kia recommended or required maintenance procedure. Targeted cleaning should be used if, due to unusual circumstances, the system has found to be contaminated. If a vehicle is experiencing fuel system contamination it should be diagnosed and repaired following factory recommended procedures. Reefer to TSB Fuel 010 for Throttle Body Cleaning. For instances where the Kia recommended fuel (a TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline) is not available/not used, see information about Kia's recommended fuel additive in TSB Fuel 022 and below:

"TECHRON(R) Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner" is now Kia-approved and recommended for complete fuel system cleaning during routine service intervals as preventative maintenance (for late model vehicles, refer the vehicle owner to the maintenance section of the owners manual). A 12-ounce bottle will safely treat up to 12 gallons of gasoline, and can be used in all gasoline engine types, including MPI or GDI systems. TECHRON(R) Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner should be used at every standard oil change interval (7500) miles, if TOP TIER detergent gasoline is not available. TECHRON(R) Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner effectively cleans fuel injectors, intake valves, combustion chambers, and protects critical fuel system components from corrosion and sulfur content in fuel. This product will not harm emission control systems and will not leave behind harmful combustion chamber deposits.

If you noticed, they recommend a product, TECHRON(R) Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner, as what should be used to clean the entire system. That would include the induction and injectors.

As far as the EGR, it does not have one.

I wish I had better information for you, but this is the bottom line.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,
Joe

I have the EX model. I need to replace my throttle position sensor. I have been looking all over the place for pictures or diagrams of where it may be located. I have not found anything helpful. Any help would be great. The fault code is P0123. The car starts idling really low and the car motor will just stop running sometimes at a stop sign.

There are two hoses that connect to the underside of my throttle body. One, I already know goes to the PCV valve. The other runs from directly center from the underside of the throttle body and to the back of the engine somewhere. There appears to be coolant in that hose. Where does it connect to?

I cannot see behind the engine well enough to know where it goes and if it might be connected to something that could be leaking coolant into it. I currently have the entire intake system removed to include the top half of the intake and the valve cover is off, but still cannot see behind the head well enough to know where that particular hose goes.

I've looked at several diagrams and still cannot determine what it's connected to or what it's for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you get a couple pictures of the line you are looking at? However, if there is coolant in it then that is a coolant line. You have coolant lines running to the throttle body so that the engine controller can regulate the temp.

I am attaching the process below of how to replace the throttle body.

Is there a reason you need to replace the line? If it is not leaking then you do not need to disconnect it.

What I am looking for is for the two lines on the bottom of the throttle body itself. Not the plenum. There are only 2 lines coming off the bottom of the throttle body so this should be easy. Diagrams are not showing them properly. Just looking where these lines go to. Thanks.

It is not in that diagram. Probably will require someone to actually look at their vehicle. Thanks though.
