Thermostat just keeps going out?

My brother has had to replace his thermostat 3 to 4 times within months they just keep going out. What could be the problem or problems? thanks

I don't think the thermostat is the problem, when you say the thermostat goes out how do you know, did you test it in boiling water or is the engine overheating? If so, here is a guide to help:
