Thermostat housing from the block but I am having trouble disconnecting the sensor attached to it?

I've removed the thermostat housing from the block but I'm having trouble disconnecting the sensor attached to it. I don't want to break it by forcing it.
The 2003, 2.3l is very different from most models. Having a sensor attached to the housing is also very different from most models.

Yep, the connectors can be tough, try to use a small flat blade screwdriver to release the safety be either prying up or down on the release while gently rocking the connector back and forth while pulling, that should help you disconnect the sensor. I also found the instructions on how to do the job in case you need it. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

The problem is that it's difficult to see where the connecter begins and ends. I've ordered a new thermostat housing unit. I'll be able to tell more when it arrives. Thank for trying.
