Just bought this used lexis, I notice the idle is to high, and it cause the car to jump when switching into gears and braking. The car has a 180,000 miles and seems in good condition other then? will the car itself improve its idle or do I have to take it to someone to have it fixed? Also how urgent is this...

High idling is bad for the transmission, engine mounts and drivetrain components as the vehicle woul jerk hard.

The problem is most likely be due to a stuck Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and cleaning it might work.

It is best to get it resolved asap as it also consumes more gas than necessary.
