My dad took his car apart trying to fix it because the water pump went out and it set for months because he has mobility issues and can't get around like he used to. He asked me to put it back together for him. I'm having issues on how to put back the tension pulley. The pulley has a nut shape that seats around the shaft but with the slotted bracket piece attached it doesn't seat all the way. Any information you can give me on the installation would be appreciated. My mom is on oxygen and they really need their vehicle.

Can you tell me if that slotted bracket goes on the inside or the outside of the pulley? If I put it on the inside the pulley doesn't seat all the way down.

Hey LARRY NASON,

I believe there is also a procedure for setting the right tension with these tensioners.

These engines are an interference engine so it is extremely important to get the belt fitted right and the tensioner set correctly.

Hope that helps, any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Regards, Joe

Hey LARRY NASON,

The instructions for setting the tensioner are attached to this message bellow.

You will need a pin wrench to turn the tensioner.

Do you have instructions on fitting the timing belt?

Regards, Joe
