Temperature sensors and wiring connector

The temperature gauge does not work. There is currently a single pigtail connector, however my trick functions by gauge.

I'm a bit confused. Has something changed to cause a difference in wiring? Have you checked the coolant temperature sensor for resistance? Have you tried replacing the sensor?
