But then turns off after a few minutes. After I park, I feel the hood, but it feels normal. I open the hood, but the engine also feels normal. It does not appear that it may overheat. I am wondering if maybe there is a bad sensor, or it that a sign of something more serious?

Hi,

Chances are either there is a connection issue or the sensor is going bad. The engine coolant temperature sensor is located at the rear of the cylinder head. See pictures 1 and 2. Check to make sure the connections is tight. If it is, here are the directions for testing.

1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminal 2 and ground.

2. If the resistance value is not as shown in the table, replace the temperature sender.
