Temperature gauge

Temperature gauge normally in the middle! Lately it's been going up a line or two but car does not tell me it's overheating. if I turn on my heater and let it run the temperature line goes back to the middle.

I would start by changing the thermostat. It may be opening late causing it to run hot.
