Temperature gauge intermittently not working

Hi, my temperature gauge only works sometimes and i don't know what to do.. it never reads hot it just doesn't work all the time.. what should i do?

Good afternoon,

The coolant temperature switch is the controlling sensor for sending a signal to the cluster for the engine temperature. I would suspect that it is filing and I would replace it.
